My first proper haircut

Like I mentioned yesterday, today there was to be another "first" for me! :) I was to have my first proper haircut. My hair has been cut before, during my full moon and again at 4 months, but that was done by Ah Mah and she did not really dare to cut off a lot because I am very wriggly so she was afraid she might accidentally cut me.

However, Aunty Sue's sister is a professional hairstylist and she has very kindly offered to give me my first proper haircut! Ah Mah says its about time because my hair is getting long and uneven and poking into my eyes and neck. Okay, so everybody, look at my old hairstyle for the last time! This photo was taken just this afternoon before my haircut.

Here we go: the process of cutting my hair. This was done in Aunty Sue's house. I kept moving my head from left to right. That's why we need a professional to get it done. Neither Mummy nor Daddy nor Ah Mah would have dared to cut my hair with me moving around so much. Aunty Sue's sister is very skilled; she just went snip snip and it was all gone!

This is the finished look. This photo was actually taken much later at home because Mummy couldn't get a nice picture earlier. How do I look? Different? :)

After cutting my hair, it was time for a bath! I was all wrapped up in the penguin towel when I finished bathing. See, it's so cute! :)

After getting dressed, I rolled around on Aunty Sue's bed for awhile. I really made myself at home :p Aunty Sue got a nice shot of me here. As usual, my hand was in my mouth.

Later, look what Mummy and Aunty Sue did to me! :p They couldn't resist dressing me up with Baby Sarah's various hair accessories. See, nice or not? :)

Oh, by the way, Daddy went for a haircut today too! The top picture was Daddy and me this morning (see, we have the same hairstyle! :p) and the bottom picture was both of us after a haircut. Hannah and Daddy lookalike! :)

My first time at a restaurant

This weekend is turning out to be rather fun! After our trip to Taiping yesterday, this morning I was at home with Mummy as usual since it was a Saturday. Mummy set up a little play-area for me in my room with all my favourite toys. See the big bear bear? Daddy bought that for me when I was a few days old but now only I know how to play with it. The rest of the toys I'm sure you have all seen them before; drum, Pooh, Freddy.

Of all the toys, I think I still like the drum the best. It can make cool sounds when I bang on it. Oops, it has gone upside down in this picture. This is because like Daddy and Mummy say, I am very "chor lor" (rough) with my toys. I not only bang on the drum but I bang the drum on the floor as well. :p

I had a nice long nap in the afternoon (usually I don't sleep so long) so at night Daddy decided to take us for a nice dinner since I would not be sleeping so early. Usually I sleep by 8.00 p.m. He took us to Victoria Station because it would be less crowded than other places (Daddy is still very afraid of H1N1 so I am not allowed to go anywhere with lots of people - I am still waiting to go kai kai at the shopping mall :p).

I was a good girl and sat in my high chair all the way until the end of the meal. Wasn't that clever of me? Before the meal, however, Mummy took me to see the big Christmas tree which was in the restaurant. Isn't it pretty? Daddy wanted me to look at the camera but I was too busy looking at all the pretty ornaments on the tree.

Later we also took a picture outside the restaurant with the big train.

When we got home, barely one hour later (Mummy and Daddy said that was the fastest meal they have ever had at a restaurant :p), I wanted to play with Bear Bear again. See, I am kissing Bear Bear in this picture.

Oops! Now I am biting his nose :)

Haih, so nice to relax after a busy day!

Daddy took some close-up shots of me.

So that was another "first" for me this weekend. Anymore "firsts" tomorrow? Stay tuned for updates! :)

My first trip out of Penang

Yesterday was a public holiday so Mummy and Daddy did not go to work. Since they had the whole day off, they decided to bring me to go and visit Ah Chor in Taiping. Mummy was quite nervous about the packing because this is the first time they have brought me on a long car trip (well, long by their standards! :p) She even packed some of my toys in case I got bored in the car.

As for me, I could sense that we were going "kai-kai" so I was very excited. See me in the car sear before leaving. You can't see it in this picture but the back seat of the car was full of my things! :)

About half way into the journey, I fell asleep, but I immediately woke up when we got to Ah Chor's place. Ah Chor owns a little grocery shop in Kamunting estate. Ah Chor was so happy to see me. It was a surprise to her because Mummy and Daddy did not inform her that we were coming.

Ah Chor's grocery store sells many things, and look what I found! :) I played with the balloon for a while but then Daddy said I cannot play with it anymore because I am too rough. If I accidentally pop the balloon I will get a fright.

I also became the small "tau keh soh", helping Ah Chor to collect money. See I am sitting on top of her desk. I am the boss, don't mess with me! Heheh..

You can see Ah Chor's grocery shop behind Daddy and me. See, many things to buy here!

I also went to watch TV in Ah Chor's room because it was cooler in there with the air-con. Here I am with Mummy.

I had a fun trip overall and slept most of the way home in the car again. Daddy and Mummy, take me again soon ok? :)

Happy 6 months old!

Our little Hannah is 6 months old today..how time flies! It feels like just yesterday when she was a tiny newborn in our arms.

These 6 months have been nothing like we've known before, between night feeds, poopy diapers, milk spit-ups, doctor's checkups and many other things that we have experienced for the very first time.

How has life changed since then? Well, we've discovered that we can survive with less sleep, for one thing. We have also discovered that we can actually understand baby language; for hunger it's one type of cry, for pain it's a different type, for just plain crankiness it's different again, and the list goes on.

Although the times of doing whatever we like whenever we like are long over, it's a sacrifice we are willing to make to have Hannah in our lives. Like her Daddy said just the other day, she brings us so much joy.

Looking back at the many, many photos we have of her, we couldn't help smiling at how she has changed since 6 months ago today. The pictures below are of when she was born, at 1 month old (with the cap), at 2 months old (with the bib), at 3 months old, 4 months old, 5 months old and one day just shy of 6 months old (with her hair tied in a little pigtail). These are photos which have not been posted before (I think!).

In these 6 months, she has also achieved a few milestones which her Daddy and Mummy are extremely proud of! :)

At 1 1/2 months, she could lift her head, at 3 months she could hold her own bottle, at 3 1/2 months she gave her first big smile, at 4 months she rolled over, at 4 1/2 months she could sit up on her own without any support and at 5 months she had her first solids!

Hannah, Mummy and Daddy love you very much and we are looking forward to the next 6 months (and many more!) with many more happy occasions and milestones to come!

Hannah and the Giant Kangaroo

I had a big surprise when I woke up this morning, and when I say big, I literally mean big! Look at what was on the bed to greet me: it was a giant kangaroo with a joey in her pouch!

I was rather in awe of her at first, seeing that she was much bigger than me. I had to look up to see her face.

Nanna wanted to bring her from Australia for me when she came last month but she was too big for Nanna to carry since she was travelling alone. So when Uncle Bob and Aunty Teresita came to Penang last weekend, they brought her along with them for me. Thank you Uncle Bob and Aunty Teresita!

Mummy let me feel how soft her fur was and I rubbed my cheek against hers. Aww..sayang..

Yay! I am happy with Kangaroo and little Joey! :)

Mummy says we are doing the same pose here; both leaning towards one side :)

Oh dear..such a big yawn..I just woke up mah! (notice the hair??)

Sunday at Gurney Drive

Last Sunday, Daddy and Mummy took me to Gurney Drive for breakfast since I woke up so early (again!). Daddy called Ah Mah, Ah Gong and Tua Kor to join us for breakfast also. It was my first time proper in a coffee shop so I sat like a good girl in my high chair, but it was for about 10 minutes only! Then I started making noise and when nobody wanted to carry me, I suddenly burst into tears!

So Mummy had to stop eating her yummy noodles and carry me and walk around. Later when Ah Mah finished her meal, she carried me and Mummy ate instead. This is why Daddy and Mummy are reluctant to bring me out, I suppose. Sigh. Never mind Mummy and Daddy, I will try harder next time, ok?

After breakfast, we went for a walk along Gurney Drive. We took lots of photos. Here is one of Daddy and I with the nice scenery behind us.

Daddy was playing with me and I was so excited :)

Ah Gong also carried me. A lot of people say I look like Ah Gong. Do you agree?

They also brought my stroller so I sat in my stroller while Mummy took me for a walk.

I like to play with the toys on my stroller. They are so nice and colourful.

Here is a nice shot Daddy took of me.

Mummy likes this photo very much. Jie Jie Pei Yi and I: two pretty little girls!

Like my hair?

This is how I look in the morning when I first get up. My hair is so "canggih" leh ;) It's like that because Ah Mah ties up my hair in a little pigtail during the day so when Mummy takes it out at night before I sleep, this is the result!
I haven't fully woken up, hence the blur blur face.

Looks like Daddy hasn't fully woken up as well; the pictures are rather blur :p
Now I am starting to wake up.

Soon I am my perky self and I know it's time to go out!

I was so excited that I lunged forward from my sitting position. Good thing Mummy was there to catch me!

Weekend activities

Last Friday, I woke up with a rash all over my body. It was in red patches on my arms, legs, tummy, and back of my neck. Mummy and Daddy were quite alarmed so Mummy and Ah Mah brought me to see Dr Mary before she went to work. Daddy couldn't go because he had to attend court in Bukit Mertajam.

I did not seem sick but Mummy and Daddy said to bring me just in case. When we got to the hospital, I got the 2nd number in queue but the doctor had not arrived yet. So I wanted to play with the mini playground that they had in the pediatric clinic. See me having fun on the little rocking horse. If you look closer you can see the rash on my left leg.

I was quite excited, see my face?

Then Mummy put me on the slide and held me while I slid down. I had lots of fun! :)

So anyway, the doctor said it was just an allergy and prescribed some medicine. I only took one dose of the medicine because the rash was already subsiding at the time.

Later that evening I went for a walk in my stroller. I love that very much too. I like to see what's happening around me.

Look at my "ada gaya" face.

Another activity I like is to sit in my walker. Ah Mah says I am too heavy to carry around all the time nowadays so she puts me in the walker and I can go wherever I want. But she always keeps an eye on me so that I don't go too far or where I can hurt myself. Having said all that, I still like to be carried compared to the stroller and the walker. See, I put my hands out like this when I want to be carried.

Nanna says this is my "aeroplane" pose. Please, someone, carry me!

On Sunday, Nanna had gone home but we still went over to our other house because the plumber was coming to do some repair work. I had a nice long nap (we all did because I woke up at 5.30 am that morning and did not want to sleep :p). After my nap, Mummy read some books to me which Nanna had brought for me from Australia.

See, I like to read books!

Mummy took some pictures with me but her face was sleepy and a bit puffy because she just woke up.

And here is a close-up picture of me :)
