Gong Gong's belated birthday

Nanna and Gong Gong have come back from Australia to celebrate my first birthday with me, so yesterday Mummy and Daddy went to fetch them from the airport. Before going to the airport, we had lunch and did some shopping at Tesco Xtra.

When I was not busy eating, I spent my time looking out the window and making funny faces:

I also prefer to feed myself nowadays rather than let Mummy or Daddy feed me. I want to be independent, although it creates a bigger job for Mummy and Daddy to clean up afterwards!



This is me and Gong Gong back at home after we came back from the airport. By the way, I can say "Gong Gong" so Gong Gong is very happy :)



At night, we went out for dinner to celebrate Gong Gong's belated birthday (his birthday was the day before, on 22nd May). Nanna says I share my birthday month with both my grandfathers. Ah Gong's birthday is on 1st of May.

Before we left the house, I played a birthday song for Gong Gong:



We went to Krystal Point for Thai food at Maa Roy Thai Restaurant. The food is really good and not expensive too. We were quite late because I woke up late from my nap. However, Mummy says that being late is a good thing considering the mess and noise I made in the restaurant. At least we did not disturb the other customers, otherwise there will be no more next time for us at this restaurant.

The candle is lit, time to sing happy birthday and blow the candle! There is only one candle because Gong Gong doesn't want to reveal his age (just joking!) No-lah, there is only one candle because I am one year old! Hmm..is this supposed to be Gong Gong's birthday or mine?



Looks like it's my birthday too since I am helping Gong Gong to blow out the candles. Nanna says we can celebrate together since our birthdays are only 4 days apart. Mummy says that I am giving "showers of blessing" on the cake rather than blowing out the candle.



I also helped Gong Gong to cut the cake. Good practice for me before it's my turn! :)

My early birthday present

Daddy and Mummy got me a car for my first birthday! :) Heheh..it's just a toy one..maybe I can get a real one when I am 16? (wishful thinking) :)

So anyway, I have wanted one of these for a long time now, so Daddy and Mummy took me to Tesco to choose one that I liked. The first one which I took for a "test-drive" was this one:

I liked the little propellor in the front very much!



So, decision made! We went home with it :) I was disturbing Mummy all the way home in the car to play with it it so as soon as we got home, I couldn't wait to get on it. As you can see I didn't even take off my shoes yet.

Cheeky Hannah

I love to stand up and everybody says I am so clever. Mummy says I am an attention seeker. I still don't dare to walk yet though, I take two steps and fall into Mummy or Daddy's arms. Coming soon, Mummy and Daddy! :)

Biker Princess

Look at what I "inherited" from Jie Jie Zhen Yi. It's a big yellow motorbike! This is actually battery operated and if charged it can run on its own. Daddy hasn't figured out how it actually works yet though. Mummy says its all for the better cos it's safer when it does not move!

Anyway, look at my "pose" with the bike:

I also got to ride it outside the house. Jie Jie Zhen Yi has to push the bike cos the battery thingy is not fixed yet. I like to ride outside very much, see my excited face!

First of May

Let me tell you about what happened on the First of May. As you all may know, it was a public holiday - Labour Day. Mummy says that it is a waste when public holidays fall on Saturdays because there is no replacement holiday.

Anyway, Mummy and I had two separate events on that day. Let me talk about where Mummy went first.

From 29th April to 1st May, Penang hosted the annual Malaysia-Singapore Bench and Bar Games. It is quite a big event whereby judges and lawyers from Malaysia and Singapore come together to participate in friendly and competitive sports events. The event culminated in a big gala dinner held at G Hotel on Saturday night.

Mummy was part of the organising committee for the dinner so she had to go there early. I took a picture in the car with Mummy before Daddy dropped her off. It was a good decision for Mummy not to drive because the whole of Gurney Drive was jammed and a lot of people arrived late for the dinner.

What is happening in the picture below is called a "boat race". This does not actually involve any boats, as Mummy found out early on in practice. She initially thought that this event did in fact literally mean "boat race" as in "dragon boat race". She was to find out that "boat race" for lawyers means a beer-drinking competition. The reason they call it the boat race is because "boat" stands for "Beer On A Table". Two teams of players have to take it in turns to finish an entire glass of beer (with no spills) and whichever team finishes first, wins. Interesting right?

So Mummy pretty much had a good time there.

Now, let me tell you what Daddy and I did. First of May is also Ah Gong's birthday, so we all had a small party for him at home. Mummy was sorry that she missed it, but hopefully she can join us next year.

Here are all Ah Gong's grandchildren, all 7 of us. I am the smallest, but not for long. I will soon have a baby cousin this August :)

Up, up!

I mentioned in my previous post that I can stand up on my own now. I do it more and more nowadays and I can stand for longer periods of time.



I am very happy when I can stand and I will clap my hands and give a big smile! :)

11 months

Because I had fever during the weekend, I didn't go anywhere so I had to stay at home with Mummy and Daddy. My fever was much better on Sunday but I still couldn't go out because Mummy and Daddy said that I need to stay at home and get a lot of rest.

I am 11 months old today, and my abilities and skills have increased. I cannot walk yet, but I can stand up on my own for a few seconds. I will give a big smile after that, like I have accomplished something great! :)

I can say more words now, such as bear-bear, duck, "zard" (lizard), "n'more" (no more) or "habis" (see, I am bilingual too!) complete with hand gestures, kok-kok (for chicken), "bok-bok" (for balloon or ball), "key" and "mou" (for mouse). I love playing with keys, by the way - house keys, car keys, any sort of keys. But they have to be real keys and not the toy keys that Mummy tries in vain to let me play with. Mummy and Daddy have to watch me when I play with keys so that I don't accidentally injure myself.

I was playing with my keys while watching cartoons on television, and when I saw Mickey Mouse, I kept pointing and saying "mou, mou".



However, most of the time, I just babble away in my baby talk. Daddy says I am very talkative. When I am awake, I rarely stop talking!

SP & SP

Yesterday Daddy had to attend court at Sungai Petani (SP) (they work on Sundays). Since I woke up early, Daddy said that Mummy and I could follow him to keep him company :)

This is me in the car before we started our journey. I have lately grown an attachment to my Baby Pooh. Usually when in the car, I must hold on to him.



I slept most of the way from home to the SP court. When we arrived, I was still sleeping so Mummy stayed with me in the car while Daddy attended court. I had a good long nap and when Daddy finished, I had just woken up.

Since I was awake, we then decided to go to Aeon Shopping Mall in Seberang Perai (SP as well). The moment we entered the mall, I got very excited and started pointing and struggling to get down. It was because of this:



I was so happy to see it so Daddy asked the information lady about the cost. Guess what, it was free! That made Daddy happy too :) He says it's very good service. They also provide baby strollers and wheelchairs free as well for those people that needed them. This is me in my Kiddie Car Number 8:

I cannot sit still for very long though while Mummy and Daddy take photos so here I am popping my head out of the car.

After walking around for awhile, Daddy and Mummy went to Nando's for lunch (or rather, brunch). I had my banana rusk. It's yummy!



Later we went to Baskin Robbin's for ice cream (which I love but not allowed to eat a lot) and I got a free balloon! I can say "bok-bok" and I kept saying it until Mummy got it for me. Daddy wanted to take a photo with me too but I was too excited to sit still (as usual).



We went home after that, and I slept all the way home in the car again. What a fun day! :)
