Petrosains @ KLCC

My dad and I took Hannah and Heidi for a 3 days trip to KL last weekend. The initial idea was actually to bring the girls to Kidzania, which was a total disaster so I am not going to blog about it. I wrote to complain and they were nice enough to respond with a personal phone call, but that's that and I don't know if we will go back again.

But anyhow, we also went to Petrosains at KLCC and it was such a good experience! Highly recommended for kids and adults too! Not to mention the super affordable entrance fee. For kids it's only RM8 and they have a family package (for 2 adults and 2 kids) at RM40 so that's what we took as it worked out cheaper than paying individually.

To enter, we had to take the "Dark Ride" which was pretty cool. Here are the 2 girls waiting excitedly for their turn to get on the ride.

The capsule that we were sitting in was supposed to be in the shape of an oil drop and it took us through Malaysia's rainforests, mountains and underwater sceneries.

All their exhibits are interactive, so the kids got to do their own experiments. There were also lots of helpful volunteers (most probably uni students) and they all spoke excellent English.

This was a capsule which was supposed to simulate the wind on planet Jupiter. It left our hair in a big mess cos the wind was really strong!

There were lots of exhibits and experiments for the kids to see and touch, and I can't remember what all of them were, so I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

We also had a look at what it was like on an actual oil rig.

And Hannah had a go on this super slide. She just made the height requirement, so Heidi could not play. But when Hannah came down, she said it was quite scary!

Towards the end, we watched a 3D movie in their in-house theatre, and there was also a class for the girls to create their own experiments. Today's class was making "jumping cups". We still have those at home, and when they got home, they made one for Helene too :)

All in all it was a fun outing, and we would certainly come here again given the opportunity!

I can walk now, not very well, but it's still a big achievement for me, yay!

Since I am a baby who loves food, I was "lured" to walk by my jie jie holding food at the other end of the room! Take a look:

So now I am more confident and walking a few more steps every day. Told you I could do it, Mummy and Daddy!

Daddy's 38th birthday

Hi, I am Helene and I think this is my first post here! I celebrated Daddy's birthday for the second time this year. Last year I wasn't even two months old so there wasn't much of a celebration for me. But this year that I am older, I can also join in the fun together with both my Hannah and Heidi Jie-Jies!

Daddy actually had an early surprise birthday celebration by Cass and Candice Jie Jie together with their mummy before they went off for their 2 weeks holiday. Since they wouldn't be around during Daddy's birthday, they surprised him with his favourite cake from Humble Beginnings. We didn't know it was to be a surprise so Daddy thought that he was supposed to fetch Cass Jie Jie to school. Who knew it was an elaborate plan to get him to go to their house! Since we didn't know about it, it was only Mummy and me who got to celebrate with Daddy since Hannah and Heidi Jie Jies were at Nanna's house. Hence the reason I am telling this story heheh :)

Two days before Daddy's birthday, the 3 of us and Mummy celebrated with him at home. We wanted to get a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake but there were none available, so we had to have a makeshift cake. Tada!

Hannah and Heidi Jie Jies each carried one and presented it to Daddy. Then we all helped him to blow the candles, but not before singing him a very loud birthday song! I think my Jie Jies were rushing through the song so that they could quickly get to eat the ice cream heheh :)

Then Daddy took pictures with the 3 of us. This is the only one where I am smiling nicely but my 2 Jies Jies are making funny faces! Oh well, since I am telling this story, I get to choose the photo where I look the best haha!

Ok ok here's another one where both of them are smiling but I'm blur because I was moving around :)

Hannah and Heidi then ate Daddy's "cake"! I managed to have a few spoonfulls too :)

Then Daddy opened his presents from us. I got him this (with help from Mummy and Nanna who bought the frame). So now he can admire my cute and pretty photos everyday haha :)

Hannah and Heidi Jie Jie gave him a T-shirt each, and Hannah Jie Jie also made him this card from all of us. He also got an ang pow from Nanna and Gong Gong which I was waving around in the photo above.

The next day, Daddy's friends also had a celebration with him at Kampachi restaurant, Equatorial Hotel. We didn't go with them so Daddy and Mummy had a nice (peaceful) lunch with adults only haha!

The hotel gave a complimentary cake which was nice to look at, but not as nice to eat!

And finally, on Daddy's real birthday, which was a Monday, Mummy again got him his favourite cake, this time the flavour was Cookies and Cream which Daddy said was very delicious. This was Mummy's present to him. We all again sang a very loud birthday song for Daddy at Amah's house.

Helene: Almost 11 months

I have a lot of things to update on Baby Helene but never seemed to get round to doing it. She is no longer a round roly-poly baby but she still maintains some of those cute folds on her thighs and wrists. :) I am not sure what is her weight as we have not weighed her since her last checkup at 6 months. I probably have to sit her on the weighing scale at home or else wait for her 1 year check up coming up next month.

This lil one has got to be the most active and wriggly baby of the 3. She totally can't sit or stay still. She could crawl at 8 months and she does it super fast.

She is also very kay-poh (busybody). So I made this little photo collage below which shows her kay-poh face in the first frame haha.

Not so chubby anymore but still equally as happy. She's still breastfeeding so hopefully that will keep her chubby folds for a while yet! And keep MY chubby folds away hahaha.

She can babble away in baby talk, but the clearest words she can say are "mum-mum" and "nen-nen" She can now also do various signs, such as "bye bye", "no more", "hello", "catch mei mei (lantern)", "clap-clap" and "gong-xi gong xi". She can also pretend to cough when someone says "lau ah em" (old aunty in hokkien), implying that old aunties cough a lot! It's really funny when she does it - I don't have a video but essentially her face looks like this:

Here she is doing some of the actions. I haven't got a really good video of her doing all her actions, because it also depends on her mood! Like here, she was getting sleepy, so she was not really interested to "entertain" us lol.

She also recently learnt how to do the sign for "money". So small already so money-face lol. Her biggest achievement so far is learning how to stand up! She still needs to hold on to things though. This means that now in addition to the eyes at the back of my head, I probably need to have eyes on all sides of my head.

She hates being in her car seat but she loves "driving" the car!

And here's another funny video of her. She was watching her sisters playing "pop-pop" firecrackers during Chinese New Year and we thought she might like to try one. She immediately caught on to it and now when you ask her to throw "pop-pop", she can do the action.

Helene @ 4 months

Little Helene is turning out to be a very smiley baby - she has a combination of Hannah and Heidi's looks and Heidi's cheery disposition! Hannah never smiled until she was 6 months old lol.

Now at 4 months, she possesses amazing acrobatic skills - don't ask me how she got her body in this position - she was trying to twist and turn while asking to be carried.

She can also flip over now, but it's definitely not her favourite past time. This was when she was initially learning to flip, so when she got stuck, it sure made her frustrated. Nowadays she can do it like a pro, but she still doesn't like being on her tummy, so we have to flip her back the other way.

My parents are back, and as usual with lots of biscuits, chocolates and sweets from Oz Land. However, this was something quite unusual - a gigantic lemon. We put it next to Helene and it was almost as big as her head. She's still cuter than the lemon though haha.

Helene, like Heidi before her, is also a thumb-sucker. No artificial pacifiers for her. So she will soothe herself to sleep, It is definitely way more convenient, but also like Heidi, we hope she will break the habit on her own when she's older.

Officially baby to toddler

Little Heidi is now officially a toddler since she can now walk quite stably at 13 months. She prefers walking to crawling and even to being carried. So when we are outside, she insists on walking!

Of course, this makes it a very slow walk for the rest of us!
