Mamy Poko lampin

Hannah has been using lampin (traditional cloth diapers) during the day time at her Ah Mah's house and at home during the weekends. It is actually better than using disposable diapers as it is more airy, cooler and there is a less likely risk of developing nappy rash.

However, the downside of using lampin is that it gets wet very easily and in turn will wet whatever surface Hannah is lying on eg. the bed or mattress. We have been using lampin covers but we find that she has outgrown most of them.

So then, recently, we were introduced to the idea of using the disposable diaper as a lampin cover. There would be no problem with size as it would follow whatever size the baby was currently wearing. However, this was only recommended for those using Mamy Poko branddisposable diapers, so there is no guarantee that this will work for other brands of disposable diapers.

How does it work? Well, this is the inside of a regular Mamy Poko disposable diaper:

Remove the inner layer of the disposable diaper, leaving only the cover. You can see that it now looks like this:

See the difference?

This is how it looks from the front:

So now the disposable diaper can be used as a lampin cover once the inner layer is removed. You just wear it over the lampin and secure it with the re-attachble tapes. Mamy Poko brand is recommended because of its breathable cover, it is lasting and also the re-attachable tapes remain sticky even though the tapes have been attached and re-attached over and over again.

We have tried this for a couple of weeks now and it seems to work just as well, if not better than the regular lampin covers. Anyway, we are looking forward to the day when Hannah is potty-trained, so Daddy and Mummy can save on buying Mamy Poko as well as washing lampin!
