Animal sounds

Hannah knows quite a few animal sounds:

She used to say "sssss" for snake but the other day after she saw the snake at Taiping Zoo, she will imitate the snake's tongue instead.

She also knows the sounds for lion "Roar!" and sheep "Mek Mek" but it is not shown in the video.

Getting her to sit still for the camera this long was hard enough!

Then and Now

Then - Sarah at 16 months and Hannah at 5 months:

Now - Sarah at 2 years and 9 months and Hannah at 1 year and 10 months. Notice any difference? :)

Sarah now has a baby sister Amelia who is almost 8 months old. On Saturday morning Sue and myself took the girls to Tesco for breakfast and some shopping. All 3 of them managed to fit into one shopping cart, which made things a lot easier for the both of us!

Look at the angelic faces (or maybe not so angelic :p)

Hannah needed a new pair of shoes as her feet are really growing tremendously fast nowadays. I got her this purple and pink pair with a lady bird. Sarah got a pair as well, so the girls had matching shoes :)

Back at home, posing with the sunglasses I got from Forever 21 in Singapore for SGD8.10 only! :)

Hickory Dickory Dock!

We discovered when Hannah was in hospital, she could actually remember the words to the songs that she heard every day (nursery rhymes). Out of boredom, her Daddy was singing to her, and she could say the last word of every line of most of the songs, and even some Chinese songs too.

Here is a demo:

"Hickory Dickory Dock"

"Row, Row, Row Your Boat"

3-syllable word

Hannah said her first 3-syllable word last night, most of the time she can only say up to 2 syllables. Of course, being a little girl which loves her food, it wasn't surprising that her first 3- syllable word was "Wan Tan Mee"!

She loves noodles, so usually when we ask her what she wants to eat, she will say "mee mee" (noodles) or sometimes "rice". So yesterday, when her Daddy asked her what "mee mee" she wanted, she said clearly and audibly, "Wan Tan Mee". We both sure had a good laugh.

So since last night, she has been able to articulate 3 syllables at one time. For example, this morning I told her not to touch "Mummy's specs", she said "Ma-mi's specs". She could also say "Baby chair". It's quite amazing to us how fast she can pick up things. As they say, children's brains are like sponges, absorbing everything they see and hear.

Last night also, I asked her to say a prayer for Nanna who is not well. So she repeated after me, clearly and accurately, "Lord Jesus, please heal Nanna, amen."

She has also been potty-trained since she was 21 months for No. 1 but we have not yet been very successful with No. 2. So far she can only do No. 2 in her diapers. In fact, there was once she took her diapers and asked her Ah Mah to wear it for her so she could do No. 2. We are still trying and hopefully she can be fully trained by the time she is 2 1/2 years old.

Hannah at the zoo

Daddy and Mummy took me to Taiping Zoo the weekend before last. We went to visit Ah Chor, but before that, we went to the zoo. I was all excited the night before and kept on saying "Zoo, zoo!" Mummy says the last time they took me to the zoo was exactly one year ago in March 2010. I was only 10 months old then and couldn't walk yet. This time would be more fun for me now that I am older and able to appreciate looking at the animals.

There were so many animals to look at. I looked up:

I looked down:

This was one of my favourites: bunny rabbits!

We stopped for a snack - Oreos!

All gone - as you can see, I really enjoyed them :)

Fishes! Oh, the little blue patch at the back of my shirt is so that mosquitoes won't come near me. I told you Mummy and Daddy are now paranoid about mosquito bites.

As you can imagine, it was pretty hot.

Self- taken family picture:

Bye-bye zoo, we'll come again soon!

Lunch time - patiently waiting for my food.

Don't take my picture - Mummy the papparazzi :p

Hannah's Facial Expressions

My mother put some photos of Hannah in one of her Facebook albums entitled "Hannah's Facial Expressions" and some of the captions are quite funny, so thought I would share it here :)

A Day Out

Are we there yet?

No more room in my mouth as yet...

That was entree

Waiting for my Main now

I am still waiting patiently

Still not here...did they think I am satisfied with just the entree?

I am a growing child, I need more

Look what I found, some food...

I am getting impatient now. Long interval between entree and main

I am so hungry I could eat a whole bowl full

The adults are keeping me occupied with tidbits

One bit in

Another bit

Finally my stable food, RICE. See what a mouth full I need

Suffolk House revisited

My godmother, Aunty Johnson, who I have not seen for some years came to Penang and stayed with us for a few days.

She was my mother's classmate in Johor for many years and one of her best friends. She is a retired school principal and thereafter spent 2 years working in Shanghai for an international school. She is now a staff worker with the Teachers' Christian Fellowship (TCF) so she came to give a talk at the teachers' college here. She came with another TCF member, Aunty Siew Leng.

On one of their off days, we took them for sight-seeing around Penang. Aunty Johnson is very big on heritage and now that she lives in KL, she is a member of Badan Warisan Kuala Lumpur (I think that's what it's called). On one of her previous trips to Penang, she took the heritage walk around old Penang. However, there was one place which she had not been so we took her there - Suffolk House.

Suffolk House was an old colonial mansion which housed some of Penang's early governors, including Francis Light. It was terribly ruined until restoration works began and were completed in 2007. Part of the house has been converted into a fine dining restaurant, which is where Hubby took me on my birthday last year.

So anyway, this would also be the first time that we took a tour of the house since we did not do so the last time. This is also the first time here for Hannah. She was pretty excited running around the house. She even went into one of the displays and we had to hurriedly ask her to come out before the people who worked there saw her!

Look at her - the typical tourist. Do you think she can actually read the guide brochure? :p

This is Hannah with Aunty Johnson and Aunty Siew Leng who was carrying her. She took quite a liking to Aunty Siew Leng. Aunty Johnson says it's because she teaches Sunday School :)
