I can lift my head!

Daddy has read on the internet that small babies like me need "tummy time" so that the babies can learn to strengthen their necks and support their heads. So yesterday morning Daddy and Mummy tried it on me. Mummy said to put a bolster under my arms so that it's easier for me to prop myself up. So here was the first attempt:

Ergh..trying, trying to lift my head!

It was not very successful, to say the least! I was still not used to it yet so after about 5 minutes Daddy and Mummy said we'll try again another time in case my arms and my neck got too tired.

Why do they make me suffer like this?

That night Mummy said to try again, and the result...voila!

Look at me! I can do it!

Daddy and Mummy were super proud of me :) Next time I will show them I can do it without the bolster.

Pretty in Pink

We had always said that we did not want to dress Hannah in pink all the time, even though she may be a baby girl. Too stereotypical. However, most of the time, she ends up wearing pink! I also don't know how come she has so many pink clothes, probably due to the fact that most people give us lots of pink clothes!

Here she is in some of her pink outfits:

As usual, not too happy after her morning milk and bath

"Sigh..why doesn't anyone want to play with me?"

"I want my chu-chut!"

"Thanks!"

Fell alseep...

Sweet dreams...

My Full Moon

Mummy and Daddy celebrated my full moon last Sunday. My actual day is this Friday but for convenience sake, they decided to do it on the weekend.

The morning of my full moon I woke up and had my milk. As usual I will shout the house down for my milk and scream if I have to wait too long. But I know Mummy and Daddy love me just the same even though I am impatient! Kekeke. Here is Daddy feeding me.

After I drank my milk it was "pang sai" time. See my "pang sai" face. It looks like I'm pretty busy right? I made a big poo after drinking all that milk.

Then Daddy gave me my bath. I've gotten used to having baths by now, but I still don't really like them. Mummy is waiting for the day I can sit up in the bath and splash around with my rubber duckys. Not so soon Mummy.

After my bath Mummy and Daddy dressed me in my new outfit. They bought it long before I was born and had already planned to wear it for me today. Talk about planning ahead. However, the cap is from Aunty Sue. It matched the outfit so Mummy and Daddy wore it for me. Don't I look cheeky all dressed up.

Here is what Daddy and Mummy ordered to give our relatives during the full moon. Ayamas..yummy! It was order 11 boxes get one free.

Here is what was inside the box. Half a roasted chicken, nasi kunyit, chicken curry, two ang ku, two red eggs, pickled ginger and Ayamas special chilli sauce. All the typical full moon goodies. By the way, this box was missing the ang ku, so Daddy took it back to the shop the next day and asked them about it. As a result, we got an extra four ang ku!

I was so tired after we got back home that I fell asleep in my favourite position. Daddy and Mummy think the way I sleep is pretty funny, considering all my different positions. Wait till you see how I was actually sleeping in this photo.

This is it. Daddy and Mummy still don't understand how I can "senget" myself like that. So that is my account of my full moon day. Stay tuned for more updates on me!

Fathers' Day 2009

Yesterday was Hubby's first father's day. Technically, I am still house-bound (although un-technically I am allowed to go out to the hospital for Hannah's check-ups and to run some errands), so I was wondering what to do to at least have a small celebration at home. Thank goodness for good friends who helped me (thanks Steven!). I managed to get a small cake with the wordings "Happy Father's Day, Luv Hannah" and hide it in the fridge for a considerable amount of time until Hubby saw it and asked what it was! Heheh.

Anyway, we had a mini celebration at home with the cake, the three of us. Hannah and her Daddy posed for some pictures for their first father's day together.

Later that night, Hubby went out with his family to celebrate father's day with his father and the rest of his family. I did not go because Hannah was getting a little cranky and thought it would be best if she could sleep at home rather than lug all her things along. Anyhow, the family came back to our place after dinner and Hannah got to play with her cousins.

All in all, it was a good father's day. Pity she missed mother's day this year, but we are looking forward to celebrating both father's and mother's day next year! :)

Mummy, please carry me!

I don't like to lie by myself in my bassinet. Usually Ah Mah will lay me down after I have had my milk and bath and then I need to play by myself while she goes to cook lunch. I will lie quietly for about 5 minutes and then I start to get fidgety.

I like it best when my Daddy carries me after he has fed me. He puts on my favourite music and he dances with me until I fall asleep. I can also easily fall asleep when my Mummy carries me because Daddy says she is more "meaty" than him so it is more comfortable for me to lie on :p. But during the day Ah Mah looks after me while Mummy rests because she is up all night looking after me.

So here I was this morning after my milk and my bath.

My face doesn't look too happy.

See it close up.

I start kicking and waving my hands around.

I open my mouth... and...

Wahhhhhh!!!

What I am thankful for

It was a nine month journey of highs and lows, ups and downs, followed by four hours of pain, and now three weeks of bottles, diapers and baby wipes. But through all that, I have much to be thankful for.

I am thankful to God for making everything possible, and especially by granting me a smooth delivery with minimal pain.

I am also thankful for:

1. A wonderful husband who has supported me throughout the nine months and beyond, especially when my leg would cramp in the middle of the night and he had to wake from his sleep to massage my leg. Even now he wakes up to help feed Hannah, gives her her bath, cleans her poop and does almost everything he can to help. During her delivery, he encouraged me and comforted me and even guided me through the pushing. I was indeed glad that he was around.

2. My parents who have given me a lot of love and support, even though they live so far away. I am glad for my mother's age-old advice on looking after babies, which has proven itself to work on me and my sister!

3. My mother-in-law who has helped to look after me and Hannah these three weeks. She has cooked for me food that I could eat, and not typical confinement food which I probably could not stomach. Even during my pregnancy she has cooked nourishing food for me such as bird's nest and soya bean.

4. Our family and friends who have been there and supported us all through the way, and for their very generous gifts for Hannah.

5. The maternity and labour ward staff at Penang Adventist Hospital who have taken good care of me and Hannah during our time there.

And most of all, I am thankful for a healthy, beautiful little bundle of joy!

Hannah is two and a half weeks old!

Time goes by really quickly. Hannah is now already two and a half weeks old and we will be celebrating her full moon next weekend.

She has been growing well since she came home; at the last check-up on Tuesday, she had already put on half a kg since the day she was born. She is generally a good baby and doesn't give us much trouble, only crying when she is hungry, has made a poop or wet her diapers. Speaking of which, Hannah's poop can sometimes "fly", making me wonder the other day why her daddy was taking a shower at 3.00 o'clock in the morning. Apparently, her poop had "flown" all over his shirt. Haha, that was quite a joke.

She eats a lot as well, sometimes almost up to 3 ounces of milk at a time when she is hungry. She normally has breastmilk during the day, whereby I pump for her and and night we give her formula.

Her jaundice has gone down considerably, but Dr Mary at Adventist Hospital says that when she is one month old, the jaundice should disappear altogether. If not, then it would be a matter for concern. So we will wait and see at her one month check-up.

We still snap lots and lots of photos of her, whether she is awake or sleeping, so here are some recent ones:

Her face is now chubbier

Her wide awake face

Here are some of her favourite sleeping positions:

So "steam" after she has had her milk :p

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was my Daddy's birthday, so Mummy and Daddy's friends Uncle Steven, Uncle Max, Uncle June Siang, Uncle Kok Hsiang and Aunty Chia Yin came to celebrate with us at our house since Mummy is still not allowed to go out. They have been Daddy's best friends since their school days. They brought a cake and yummy KFC and pizza. Mummy is not allowed to have any as she is still eating confinement food so Mummy ate earlier before they arrived so that she would not be hungry and tempted by all the yummy food!

I was a good girl until about 8.00 pm whereby I woke up and did not want to sleep until 12 midnight. I guess I was excited to see so many friends and I did not want to miss out on the party!

Family photo with Daddy's birthday cake

All Mummy and Daddy's friends plus me!

My Mummy and Daddy's other friends Aunty Jenny and Aunty Ai Nee also came to celebrate with us at our house on Saturday. They also brought a cake and other yummy food.

I was actually supposed to be born on Sunday (my due date) so there was actually a chance that I could share the same birthday as Daddy. But I couldn't wait that long to come into the world so I came much earlier. But anyway, I am glad that I did so that I can celebrate Daddy's birthday with him and Mummy and all their friends! :)

Happy Birthday Daddy! I love you!

Father-Daughter Bonding

Ever since Hannah was born, Hannah's daddy is so reluctant to leave her every morning to go to work. So as soon as he reaches home, that is his special time for bonding with Hannah. I thought it was just so sweet to see the two of them together.

Usually people (especially the typical Chinese) would prefer that their firstborn is a boy, but just yesterday Hubby told me that now Hannah is here, he wouldn't trade her for any boy in the world.

Just the other day I managed to snap a few photos of their father-daughter bonding session.

Daddy and his little princess

So sweet!

We are making the same expression!
