Starting them young

As mentioned in the previous post, Hannah is now a "jie-jie" to her little cousin. The evening after she was born, we made a trip to the hospital to visit her. Hannah was rather excited and she kept on saying 'baby, baby" when she saw her little cousin and the other babies in the nursery. I think the nurse must have been quite amused because she carried Hannah into the nursery and asked if she would like to give her cousin a kiss. She promptly kissed the baby on the cheek, and then the baby woke up and started crying! Oh dear.

Anyhow, she will now have a little playmate more her age as her other cousins are all grown up now. The baby will be living at MIL's place during the confinement month so Hannah can spend lots of time with her. We hope that Hannah will be a good big sister to her. She can also do small chores nowadays, like taking things for people and picking up her own toys, so hopefully she can also help out her Ah Mah in little ways while her Ah Mah is busy with the baby. It's good to start them young :)

Speaking of which, we have started Hannah to learn how to save in her own piggy (or rather "froggy") bank. She loves to take "puat-puat" (coins in Hokkien) and her Daddy and Ah Gong will always indulge her with guess what? Feeding coins into other people's parking meters! So I decided rather than letting her do that, she may as well start to save in her own little "tabung".

So now almost everyday, when she asks for "puat-puat", we give her the coins and the froggy bank, and she is contented to put in the coins to the coin slot. Starting them young :)

Jie-Jie Hannah

Hannah is now officially a "jie-jie" (big sister). Her little cousin was born this morning, 28 July 2010. This is Hubby's eldest sister's Joo Gaik's third child. She has not been named yet though, so Hannah now will just have to call her "mei-mei" (little sister) :)

McDonald's Autocity

Hubby had to work at Butterworth on Saturday, so guess where we went for lunch - McDonald's Autocity!

Hannah had a ball at the mini playground. She didn't seem to mind that all of the other kids were bigger than her. Only we were so afraid that she would get accidentally pushed and fall down.

She was playing "chak!" :)

She was too excited to take photos with Pei Yi and Zheng Wei and wanted to quickly go down the slide.

Oops, was Hannah a naughty girl? Have to stand in the corner :p

A funny moment

There was a funny moment in the car two nights ago. Usually Hannah will change into her pyjamas and have her milk in her Ah Mah's house before we go home so that she can fall asleep in the car. It's much easier having her sleep in the car, so that we don't have to "battle" when we get home.

So anyway, for some reason, she just did not want to sleep even though it was quite late. After a few attempts of "Hannah, put your head on Mummy's shoulder and or-or (sleep)", she started make rude noises which sounded like "Pbbbbbbttttttttttt" with her "showers of blessing" landing all over my face. Of course, I was none too pleased and asked her to "Stop it!" Instead of stopping, she burst out into giggles and started laughing away. And so it went on, the more I asked her to stop, the more she would laugh.

So finally, I ended up laughing with her and her Daddy also had a good laugh. How to scold such an adorable and cheeky child? :)

Hannah's animal book

Hannah received an animal book from Szu-Fu and Hooi Lee for her first birthday, and since then she has learnt to say the names of the animals in the book. The audio is not that clear, as "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" (her favourite show) was playing in the background, so here is the translation:

Rabbit = "Bit"
Cat = "Ka-kat"
Dog = "Wo-wo"
Tortoise = "Ku" (In Hokkien)
Parrot = "Bird"
Guinea Pig = "Pig"
Fish = "Ssshhhh"
Rat = "Uhhhh" (Haha, she doesn't know this one yet)

Giant sunnies

This photo was taken with my camera phone, when Hannah was trying on her cousin's sunglasses. She has this obsession with spectacles, so whenever she sees them, she will ask for "spec, spec!".

I think she looks pretty bug-eyed in this photo. Haha.

Hannah goes to school

All Hannah's cousins are presently attending kindergarten or school, so very often they come back to their Ah Mah's house carrying their school bags. Seeing them, our little girl also wanted to "go to school".

She found a little back-pack and insisted on putting it on. Her cousins put some books inside and she was ready to go! :)

See the books inside the back-pack.

She may be small still, but time flies very quickly, and before we know it, she will be going to school for real. Sigh...my little baby will be all grown up, much too soon!

My fun weekend

Let me tell you what I did last weekend. On Saturday night, Mummy, Daddy and I went to visit Aunty Ai Nee, Uncle Kee Siak and Kor Kor Darrel at their new house. They actually moved since last December, but we only went there for the first time on Saturday.

After that, we went to El Mondo Pizza at Krystal Point for dinner. Mummy and Daddy were surprised that there was no-one in the restaurant on a Saturday night, and it was already 7.00 pm. Then it struck them that it was because of the World Cup semi-finals! Everyone was resting at home so they could get up and watch the match. Haha.. However, later slowly people started coming in.

Anyway, before the restaurant got crowded, I wanted to "walk, walk!", so Aunty Ai Nee asked Kor Kor Darrel to accompany me around the restaurant. Kor Kor Darrel wanted to hold my hand, but I was a bit shy at first :)

Later, I warmed up and held Kor Kor Darrel's hand to go "walk-walk". In my other hand I kept a tight hold on Baby Eeyore! :)

The next day we went to Ah Mah's house and went for a walk outside. Now that I can walk, I fall down a lot because I am not that steady yet. I'm beginning to get some scrapes and bruises on my knees. Mummy and Daddy very "sim tia". Don't worry Mummy and Daddy, it's all part of me growing up! :)

There is a small fish pond nearby Ah Mah's house and I love to go and look at the fish there. Nowadays, I don't want to merely look, but I want to touch them too! Mummy always makes sure I wash my hands properly after touching the water and the fish.

Jie Jie Pei Yi thought it was great fun too!

My face was all wet after that, see the drops of water on my face?

Honk, Honk, here comes Hannah!

After putting aside her birthday present for awhile (she gets bored with her toys very fast!), Hannah suddenly found a new liking for the little car. Rather than inside the house, I took it outside so she had more place to ride around on it.

Look at her excited face: toys which haven't been played with for awhile will appear to be like new again :)

She's pretending to talk on the phone: hello? hello?

She's thinking: "Hmm..where shall I go next?"

Honk, honk, here comes Hannah!

Botanical Gardens

I was at our KL office on Monday and Tuesday for a work assignment. This was the first time I had spent the night away from home since Hannah was born, so as can be expected, I missed my little baby! (and Hubby too, of course :p) I called home on Monday night and Hubby put the phone to Hannah's ear and asked her to call "Mummy" so I could hear her saying "Ma, Ma" on the other end. And guess what else? Hubby said that she kissed the phone! How precious :)

Since I have been a little behind in blogging, here's what we were up to the past weekend. We took Hannah to Botanical Gardens for the first time. I was not too keen previously because as far I as know, there are many monkeys at Botanical Gardens, and they can sometimes be quite aggresive. To our surprise, however, there was not even one monkey in sight. More can be seen at Youth Park, in fact.

Hannah was a bit sleepy as it was about time for her morning nap, but she seemed quite keen to play as well, so we let her practice her walking on the grass. She is still not that steady yet, but she is quite determined. She will take our hand and say "walk-walk, walk-walk"!

Later, Hubby took her down to look at the fishes in the river. This was the same river that my classmates and I used to come to catch insects for our Biology project. Those were the days..seems so long ago now :)

Mummy and grumpy Hannah - time to go home and have a nap!

MAM BPA-free baby bottles

Hannah's Tommee Tippee bottles have been used for more than 6 months now, and they are starting to turn a little yellow, so I decided it was time to change her bottles again. I thought of trying something new, so after some researching and hunting, I decided on this:

I did not want to get Tommee Tippee bottles again, because of the difficulty in reading the markings on the bottles, which resulted in mother-in-law having to mark the water level with a marker pen.

MAM baby bottles are manufactured in Austria and are BPA-free as well, and they come in 4 colours; blue, pink, green and orange. For Hannah I got the pink and orange bottles since they were having a promotion, 2 bottles for RM45.00 only. I bought them online directly from the main distributer for MAM products in Malaysia, at this website : http://www.mymam.com.my/

As for the teats, MAM bottles use silk teats which are soft and easy for the baby to suckle.

So how does Hannah like her MAM bottles?

She definitely likes the bright colours of the bottles. When I first showed them to her she got very excited and started saying "milk, milk!" She managed to drink from them very well, but the fast flow teats are indeed very fast, so it initialy resulted in a little bit of spilling. But once she got the hang of it, she was fine. Also, this bottle is slightly bigger than her Tommee Tippee bottles, so she has to hold the base of the bottle while drinking. With her Tommee Tippee bottles she could hold on to the side of the bottle.

Anyway, this might be the last time I will be buying bottles. We want to train her to drink from a cup once she is a little older. For now, we will let her enjoy her "milk milk!" :)
