Helene's first time at Penang Botanic Gardens

It has been a few weeks since my last post, and no, there's no sign of Helene walking yet! Last Tuesday was a public holiday in Penang, being Heritage Day, so we decided to take the girls for a jog/walk at the Botanic Gardens.

Hannah and Heidi needed no introduction, so they jogged alongside Daddy, with cautions to be careful around the monkeys! Look at their red faces from all the activity and running, but oh-so-happy!

Hubby said that both Hannah and Heidi learnt their first steps here, so Helene should try too! So he put her down and she could walk one step after another with help. She was so happy when her feet touched the grass! But it was not so good news for her crib shoes haha. Anyway I bought her a pair of cruising shoes soon after, so now she can practise walking anytime.

It's really nice and green at the Botanic Gardens. Hopefully it will be here for many years to come and not have to make way for any more development on the island.

Cultivating a healthy lifestyle

Now that Hubby is in practice on his own, his time is flexible, so a few afternoons a week he takes Hannah and Heidi for some outdoor activity, usually for jogging or to the playground.

A few weeks ago, they went to Botanical Gardens. We usually don't like to go there because of the monkeys, but after so long, the girls wanted to go and have a run around the place. Look at the happy excited faces in car while on the way there.

The girls had a great time running around, and when they got tired they walked hand in hand. I though this was such a sweet picture of the two of them.

And these too:

The landscaping has improved tremendously from several years ago, so it's now a very pleasant place to have an evening jog, despite the monkeys. Now they go at least once a week, so the girls look forward very much to their evening exercise activities. Hopefully we can cultivate a active healthy lifestyle in our girls!

An evening at Penang Botanic Gardens

After being cooped up so many days in the hospital, the weekend after Heidi was discharged, we decided to take the girls to Penang Botanic Gardens to get some fresh air. I probably needed some fresh air too, after breathing hospital air for the whole week!

This was also Heidi's first time here and she was very excited to see such a big space for her to run around :)

Some kind people also offered us some bread so we could feed the fish.

Family picture - check out Hannah's face!

We went home sweaty but happy. Will be back soon!

Botanical Gardens

I was at our KL office on Monday and Tuesday for a work assignment. This was the first time I had spent the night away from home since Hannah was born, so as can be expected, I missed my little baby! (and Hubby too, of course :p) I called home on Monday night and Hubby put the phone to Hannah's ear and asked her to call "Mummy" so I could hear her saying "Ma, Ma" on the other end. And guess what else? Hubby said that she kissed the phone! How precious :)

Since I have been a little behind in blogging, here's what we were up to the past weekend. We took Hannah to Botanical Gardens for the first time. I was not too keen previously because as far I as know, there are many monkeys at Botanical Gardens, and they can sometimes be quite aggresive. To our surprise, however, there was not even one monkey in sight. More can be seen at Youth Park, in fact.

Hannah was a bit sleepy as it was about time for her morning nap, but she seemed quite keen to play as well, so we let her practice her walking on the grass. She is still not that steady yet, but she is quite determined. She will take our hand and say "walk-walk, walk-walk"!

Later, Hubby took her down to look at the fishes in the river. This was the same river that my classmates and I used to come to catch insects for our Biology project. Those were the days..seems so long ago now :)

Mummy and grumpy Hannah - time to go home and have a nap!
