Back to Work

Yesterday was my first day back at work. It was difficult at first; difficult to wake up in the morning, difficult to get things ready, difficult deciding what to wear, and most of all, difficult leaving Hannah.

I suppose I have been used to being with her most of the time, if not all of the time, day and night. Gradually I will get accustomed to this new routine, waking up extra early so that I have enough time to pump breastmilk, to shower, get dressed and to still have time to have breakfast with Hubby.

I think I know now what it means when people say that your life changes after having a baby. Everything revolves pretty much around her. We can't just go out and do whatever we want anymore. However, we are fortunate enough to have parents willing and very much wanting to take care of her in the event we need their help.

Now is the time to re-adjust my priorities again as work is important too. We realise that both of us need to work at this current moment in order for us to live comfortably. Milk and diapers and other baby stuff is expensive! :)

But the difference between having Hannah and not having her before is this; at the end of a long day at work, we look forward to going home because we know she is there waiting for us.

Hannah, Mummy misses you!

More photos of Baby Hannah

Here are some of our favourite photos of Baby Hannah which we have not posted on the blog so far :)

Family Dinner

Every time my parents and sister come back to Penang, we will pay our usual visit to a little restaurant called Mario's Ristorante in Batu Ferringhi. We had stumbled upon it quite by accident about 10 years ago and we have never failed to go there regularly ever since.

So we decided to go there again last night. Baby Hannah was a good girl and stayed home with Daddy so Mummy could go out and have a nice dinner :)

Mario's serves primarily Italian food, but they do have other western dishes such as lamb chop, grilled fish etc. and they even have Mexican fajitas as well.

Since we were such regular customers, we had garlic bread for starters, complimentary of the restaurant.

We also ordered bruschetta, which is bread topped with fresh tomatoes and herbs.

While waiting for the food, we took some family photos.

My sis and me - do we look alike?

The Cheahs

Our drinks came soon after that.

Singapore Sling and my non-alcoholic Shirley Temple since I am still pumping breastmilk for Baby Hannah

For the main course, we had tiger prawn thermidor (yummy!), linguine aglio olio and spaghetti marinara. The portions are quite big so three main coursewas enough for the four of us. Moreover, the tiger prawn thermidor was meant for two persons. All the food was very very good.

Finally, for dessert, we had crepes suzette, which is a pancake served with orange sauce and vanilla ice cream.

It was a good family dinner. Looking forward to going there again! :)

Two-month Checkup

Today Baby Hannah had her two-month checkup with Dr Mary at Adventist Hospital. She also had her first dose of DPT Polio and Pneumococcal injections.

She is now 5.53 kg and 58 cm long which is quite big for her age, but Dr said she is healthy so there is nothing to worry about.

We will just be monitoring her for any fever today as Dr said that there is a 5% chance of getting fever with the Pneumococcal injection.

Her eyes are focusing better as well. Just yesterday Hubby told me that she was following me with her eyes when I walked across the room. Also, she can lift her head quite high now so her neck is getting stronger.

All in all, it was a positive checkup. Her next checkup will be when she is 4 months old.

How I try to get what I want

I can be a very cheeky baby. Mummy and Daddy usually give in to me, since I am only 8 weeks old, but somehow I don't think this will be the case when I am 8 years old. Haha.

For example, yesterday I wanted Mummy to carry me, but Mummy tries not to let me get into the habit of always being carried and to train me to fall asleep myself.

See my initial reaction. I look like like I'm trying to pick a fight. Heheh.

So Mummy gave me my pacifier. I am now thinking of how else to bully poor Mummy. This is me thinking:

Soon I am not happy with the pacifier and shout for Mummy to attend to me.

Mummy puts the pacifier back in my mouth and gives me some toys to play with. See the orange flower. That was Mummy's first toy when she was a baby. Nanna and Gong Gong brought it back with them. It makes music and its eyes move up and down when you pull on the cord attached to it. Nowadays this toy cannot really be found. Maybe some of the Uncles and Aunties out there will remember this from when they were young. The Kiwi bird is a present from Mummy's cousin Aunty Jessica who lives in New Zealand. She couriered the toy to Mummy all the way from there. Thank you Aunty Jessica!

I seemed to be quite happy with the toys at first, but they did not keep me satisfied for long. So then Mummy put me on my tummy so I could practise lifting my head and maybe try to crawl.

I did not like that for very long either, but I guess I was too tired after all my antics, so I finally fell asleep. Mummy won this time! :)

My first night away from home

Nanna and Gong Gong and Ee Ee have come all the way from Australia to see me so they have been looking after me for the last few days. They all sayang me very much so yesterday Nanna asked Daddy and Mummy if I could stay overnight. Nanna also said that she will look after me so Daddy and Mummy could have a good night's sleep. At first Daddy and Mummy said that she will be too tired because I can be quite playful at night, but Nanna insisted that she can, so Daddy and Mummy left me with Nanna and Gong Gong for the first time.

Daddy and Mummy said that at first it was strange to go home and see my empty bassinet, but they have to let me go at some point. I probably will leave home when I grow up. But not so soon la so Daddy and Mummy don't worry ya. Haha.

Anyway, this morning Daddy and Mummy woke up early so that Mummy could come to see me early in the morning. (I think the truth is that they couldn't sleep that well without me around :p Aren't they funny? With me around also cannot sleep, without me around also cannot sleep :p) Nanna told Mummy that I was a very good girl and did not make a fuss last night. I only woke up once at 3.30 for my milk, played for a while and went back to sleep. In fact I was sleeping most of this morning as well.

I quite enjoy staying with Nanna and Gong Gong. They play with me and sing to me. So after they come back from KL next week, Daddy and Mummy says I can stay with them until they go back to Australia.

Gong Gong took some pictures of me with them:

I was fast asleep..Nanna tried to wake me up but I was too sleepy
