When I was in hospital...

Remember I was admitted to hospital during Chinese New Year? Well, let me tell you the story of how that happened...

I had been having fever on and off since the 2nd day of CNY. It would come and go, especially at night. My fever even went up to 39 degrees. Anyway, since everytime I had fever, the doctor would advise us to come back again after 3 days if the fever had not subsided. So this time, Mummy and Daddy waited until the 3rd day (which was the 4th day of CNY) and then brought me to see the doctor. The doctor said that if we were worried, he would do a blood test and let us know the results later that day. So Mummy and Daddy said it would be better. Of course I screamed the place down while the doctor was taking my blood. After that, we went home.

About 2 to 3 hours later, around lunch time, the doctor called Mummy's mobile phone. He then told Mummy that I was confirmed to have dengue fever. I don't think Mummy had ever heard such bad news about me before. He then said that I had to be admitted to hospital and I was to be brought in that afternoon itself.

At 2 pm, Mummy and Daddy checked me in to the hospital. They pricked my hand again to insert the drip later on, so that made me very cranky again. Daddy and Nanna had to pacify me while Mummy did the admission paperwork since we would be claiming the insurance given by Mummy's company. Mummy requested for a private room but unfortunately they were all taken so we had to take the 2-bedded room instead.

After the paperwork was done, we went upstairs to the pediatric ward. When I saw the playroom, my crankiness was all gone! There were slides, toy houses and other toys for the kids to play with. I immediately insisted that I wanted to go in. However, the drip attached to my hand hampered my movement so Daddy or Mummy had to help me. Sometimes I forgot and started running and they quickly had to stop me, otherwise the drip would topple over.



They even had a little sink inside the house :)



When I was in hospital, I had to eat hospital food. As you can see, I was not impressed.



But food is still food, I guess - cannot waste! :p Anyway, Ah Mah, Nanna and everyone who came to visit brought me nice food to eat.



This was the small slide and there was a bigger slide too for bigger children.



The government officials came to the hospital because they had to report it. They wanted to know our address so that they could go and investigate and fog the place. Daddy gave them both our house address as well as Ah Mah's house since I am there most of the time.

It was not an easy 4 days, 3 nights for us in the hospital. I was cranky the first few days because of the drip, and they also placed a heplock in my other hand so that the doctor could draw blood easier instead of having to prick me all the time. In the end, both my hands were bandaged so I couldn't really use them much. The first few days, every time I saw the doctor I would cry because I knew he was coming to prick me! Around the 3rd day, I got used to the place and became quite friendly towards the doctor and the nurses. So when I went home, everybody said bye bye to me. The doctor even gave me the "bear-bear" from his stethoscope since I liked it so much.

After that incident, Daddy and Mummy have been paranoid about mosquito bites. They bought all the mosquito patches and sprays for me to use. The smell is not very pleasant, though.

Anyway, I am just happy that I am all well now and thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes.

CNY Photos

This post is a bit belated, but Mummy finally had time to sort out all the photos. We took lots and lots of photos during CNY, from Daddy's camera, from Mummy's camera and a whole lot from Gong Gong's camera too!

This is the "choo char" place outside our house. Nanna and Gong Gong like to come here and eat whenever they are back. Cheap and good :) As usual, I was more interested in the food than in taking photos.

Mummy also took me to her old piano teacher's house. The teacher asked if I wanted to learn piano and I nodded my head. It sure made her very happy!



Later in the afternoon, we went to Chek Kong Chor's house as there was to be a very exciting event which I had not seen before - lion dance! I was pretty happy to see the lion dance but I did not like the fireworks at all because it was really really loud! Everyone there had to cover their ears when it went off!

On the second day of CNY, we went to Taiping to visit Ah Chor. I was all ready and packed to go with my little bag. Daddy and Mummy found it pretty amusing that I took the bag, even though it was just my toys inside.



On the third day, Daddy and Mummy's friends came over for dinner. Uncle Max brought his niece Arrisha, so I had a little friend to play with.



Nanna, Gong Gong and Ee Ee came over too. We had steamboat for dinner.



On the fourth day, we had dinner at Sea Palace restaurant with Nanna, Gong Gong, Ah Mah, Ah Gong and all of Daddy's sisters and brother. Daddy, Mummy and I wore yellow on that day :)



As you can see, I was very busy with the cutlery on the table.



Hmm...what was I thinking about?



We had "lo yee sang" and at first I just watched everybody doing it. Then I wanted to do it too so Mummy carried me while I "lo".

Straits Quay

On Saturday night, Mummy and Daddy brought me to have dinner at Straits Quay Mall together with their friends. This was my first time there, and Daddy and Mummy's second time. Aunty Ai Nee brought Kor Kor Darrell as well so I had a little friend to play with.

This dinner was actually for Mummy's belated birthday. Mummy's birthdays are all belated this year :p

We had dinner at this German bistro which I can't remember the name. Before dinner, Mummy took some photos with everyone:

By the way, today is Nanna's birthday as well. Her actual birthday is 29 February, but since there is no 29 February this year, her birthday is today. Happy birthday Nanna from Mummy and Daddy and me! Hugs and kisses!

Mummy's 30th

Mummy's wish that I get to celebrate her 30th birthday at home this year came true as I was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of her birthday. We were all so happy that I could go home at last as the hours seemed to pass by very slowly when we were in the hospital.

This is the cake which Daddy bought for Mummy from Baskin Robbins - cookies and cream flavour. The whole cake was made of ice-cream and not half cake, half ice-cream. I was really excited to see it as I love ice-cream!



Nanna, Gong Gong and Ee Ee were around so we took some family shots at home. Mummy and Daddy look pretty tired as we just came back from the hospital.



And then came the best part! And this is me just being discharged from hospital. Everybody sure "pengsan" if they see me eating ice-cream after just only recovering!



After I had finished, I posed like this. Look at my happy expression and the mess on my face and hands. As you can see, I really enjoyed myself :)



That weekend, Mummy's friends treated her dinner at Straits Quay. They had Mediterranean food for dinner at Agua and thereafter cake at Secret Recipe. Food at Agua was quite good, RM58 nett for set dinner which comes with a glass of wine.



Mummy indeed had a memorable 30th birthday. We hope to celebrate many more birthdays together!

In Changi Airport

I am now in Changi airport waiting for my flight home to Penang. I came this morning to meet clients but since Air Asia's only night flight is at 11 pm, I have been "ronda-ing" around trying to kill time. Good thing Changi has free internet :)

I seemed to have been on somewhat of a blogging hiatus since Hannah was ill and thereafter was Chinese New Year and when I got back to work I was busy with all the backlog of work during my 2 weeks absence. There are probably a few hundred photos taken during Chinese New Year, will find the time to post up some of them soon.

Since I am on a 15 minute limit (I have about 3 minutes left), this is all I am going to write for now.

In hospital

Little Hannah has been admitted to hospital for dengue fever. She had been having fever on and off since the 2nd day of Chinese New Year so the doctor did a blood test on her yesterday morning and it was positive for dengue.

She has been warded and needs to be put on a drip. Her fever is not high anymore but she is extremely cranky and uncooperative. Cannot really blame her as she is so small and does not really understand what is happening to her. As parents, it also breaks our hearts to see her so miserable.

Please pray for her speedy recovery and that she can be discharged tomorrow, which is the earliest possible she can go home, according to the doctor.

We are trying to make her as comfortable as possible, and she is generally being a good girl, despite the circumstances. We have to stay with her at the hospital, which is definitely nowhere near as nice or comfortable as our own home and own bed, and the pediatric ward playroom is her only "fun" place.

My 30th birthday is coming up in two days and my only birthday wish this year is that Hannah can spend it with me at home or somewhere nice outside and not in the hospital.

Back for Chinese New Year

Nanna, Gong Gong and Ee Ee are back for Chinese New Year! I got many presents from them, I will tell you about them later.

On Saturday, I went for Jie Jie Isabelle's 4th birthday party. We went to her house and it was nicely decorated with many balloons. I kept wanting to hold all the balloons.



Jie Jie Isabelle got many many toys this year. I gave her a fluffy teddy bear and Mummy and Daddy gave her an ang pow. I am holding the teddy bear (partially hidden in the picture below) and was not really willing to give it to her, but after some coaxing, I let it go.



I was also thrilled to see this - a toy teaset! It kept me entertained for quite a long time while Mummy and Daddy ate their food. Since it was a party, I also got to eat a lot of things which I don't normally get to eat - french fries, ice cream, cake :p



When Nanna and Gong Gong came back, we went kai-kai at one of the shopping malls so they could buy some things. Nanna was saying something funny to me and I laughed and laughed so much.





Gong Gong brought me back this - how typical of a dentist :p He also got me a CD of children's Bible songs but Mummy didn't take a picture as the CD was in the car.



Nanna and Grandpa Noll from Australia bought me this. Mummy told Nanna that I love to "cook" so now I have this lovely teaset of my own. Thank you Nanna and Grandpa Noll!

I'm really looking forward to this CNY - Ah Gong taught me how to do "Gong Xi Fa Cai, Hong Bao Na Lai" with my hands, so I am busy practising before the first day of CNY :)

Hannah can "read"

Hannah has this big picture book given to her by her cousins, so we have been teaching her to "read" the words (more likely she is recognising the pictures in the book) and she so far knows almost all the words on the first page.
