Helene @ 14 months

I am 14 months old today! Two months ago we celebrated my first birthday and now two months later, I have achieved lots of things! One of those things, however, is not walking. I am still happily cruising along walls and furniture but have not ventured to take that first step! Amah says that I can't walk yet because everyone still likes to carry me since I am the baby of the family!

Okay, so what can I do at 14 months? I can cruise and I can crawl, but not on my knees like usually babies do. I crawl on my hands and feet, with my bum up in the air, something like Spiderman! I don't have a photo to show you, but you get the idea. Gong Gong says I will walk very soon, Mummy and Daddy are not so sure lol.

I can't talk much yet, but I can call "Papa", "Mama" (or sometimes it's "Meme"), "Amah", "Apoh". Actually the person I can call best (and the first!) is "Hannah"! I can say "Hannah" loud and clear. I can also call "Heidi" but it comes out like "Didididi" haha. My favourite words now are "Papa bao-bao" or "Mama bao" (Papa/Mama carry) so now you know why I can't walk yet! Lol. I can also say "mum mum" and "nen nen", "ball", "bird" and for some strange reason, "pampers"!

I'm still a petite baby. The last time I was weighed at the hospital when I was a year old, I was only 8.6 kg, meaning I only put on about half kilo since I was 6 months old. But the doctor said that as long as I am eating okay, it's nothing to worry about. And speaking of food, I love to eat! I will eat anything, except durian! Haha. I will shake my head "no no" when someone offers me durian. It's quite stinky, you know!

Even though I'm now 14 months, I have not weaned from breastfeeding yet. So Mummy thinks she will just let me wean on my own, or what they call baby led weaning. I am fine with formula milk during the day when Mummy is at work, since she doesn't pump any more, but at night and when Mummy is around, I want my nen nen! Since I am the baby of the family, Mummy doesn't have the heart to say no to me. I think baby led weaning is a pretty good idea too!

I can also do lots of actions. When people say, "Make your funny face", I do this:

Or this:

I can also do motorbike "vroom vroom" like this:

I also love kiddy rides now, same like my jie-jies! I can no longer just watch them play, but I want to play too!

I am quite a friendly baby also. I like to wave at passers-by, whether at the mall, at the supermarket or even just people on the road. The people are quite amused when they see me and will generally wave back. I should be a spokesperson for "Kempen Sopan-Santun" (Politeness campaign). Or maybe it should be "Kempen Mesra" (Friendly campaign) lol. See, here I was at Esplanade and waving to someone. But in the picture it looked like I was making the sign for "stop". Nanna thought I was stopping traffic lol.

Okay, so that's all the updates on me for now! Will post more soon :)

Daddy's 38th birthday

Hi, I am Helene and I think this is my first post here! I celebrated Daddy's birthday for the second time this year. Last year I wasn't even two months old so there wasn't much of a celebration for me. But this year that I am older, I can also join in the fun together with both my Hannah and Heidi Jie-Jies!

Daddy actually had an early surprise birthday celebration by Cass and Candice Jie Jie together with their mummy before they went off for their 2 weeks holiday. Since they wouldn't be around during Daddy's birthday, they surprised him with his favourite cake from Humble Beginnings. We didn't know it was to be a surprise so Daddy thought that he was supposed to fetch Cass Jie Jie to school. Who knew it was an elaborate plan to get him to go to their house! Since we didn't know about it, it was only Mummy and me who got to celebrate with Daddy since Hannah and Heidi Jie Jies were at Nanna's house. Hence the reason I am telling this story heheh :)

I helped Daddy to blow the candles and cut the cake.

Two days before Daddy's birthday, the 3 of us and Mummy celebrated with him at home. We wanted to get a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake but there were none available, so we had to have a makeshift cake. Tada!

Hannah and Heidi Jie Jies each carried one and presented it to Daddy. Then we all helped him to blow the candles, but not before singing him a very loud birthday song! I think my Jie Jies were rushing through the song so that they could quickly get to eat the ice cream heheh :)

Then Daddy took pictures with the 3 of us. This is the only one where I am smiling nicely but my 2 Jies Jies are making funny faces! Oh well, since I am telling this story, I get to choose the photo where I look the best haha!

Ok ok here's another one where both of them are smiling but I'm blur because I was moving around :)

Hannah and Heidi then ate Daddy's "cake"! I managed to have a few spoonfulls too :)

Then Daddy opened his presents from us. I got him this (with help from Mummy and Nanna who bought the frame). So now he can admire my cute and pretty photos everyday haha :)

Hannah and Heidi Jie Jie gave him a T-shirt each, and Hannah Jie Jie also made him this card from all of us. He also got an ang pow from Nanna and Gong Gong which I was waving around in the photo above.

The next day, Daddy's friends also had a celebration with him at Kampachi restaurant, Equatorial Hotel. We didn't go with them so Daddy and Mummy had a nice (peaceful) lunch with adults only haha!

The hotel gave a complimentary cake which was nice to look at, but not as nice to eat!

And finally, on Daddy's real birthday, which was a Monday, Mummy again got him his favourite cake, this time the flavour was Cookies and Cream which Daddy said was very delicious. This was Mummy's present to him. We all again sang a very loud birthday song for Daddy at Amah's house.

See the delicious layers when you cut into the cake:

Dear Daddy, we wish you good health, good wealth and God's blessings upon you on your birthday and in all the coming days! Lots of love, hugs and kisses from all of us!

Penang Bird Park

The last stop of the school holidays was Penang Bird Park, since none of us had been there before, not even Hubby. We actually intended to go to the immigration office to renew Hubby and Hannah's passports and make a new passport for Helene since the one on the mainland opens on weekends. But when we arrived there, the queue was so long, so we decided to skip it and head to the Bird Park instead. I think the girls also much prefer to go there than to be stuck in a queue for hours!

We were not really dressed for the park, since the initial idea was to go and make passports but thankfully it was only a moderately hot day. The entrance fee is not cheap, however - RM23 for adults and RM13 for kids (MyKad holders). Foreigners are charged at a higher rate.

Helene is really cheeky nowadays. Check out her happy cheeky face lol.

When the girls saw the flamingos, they tried to see who could imitate a flamingo better haha.

There was actually quite a lot of species of birds, big and small, and some very colourful ones too. Little Helene was quite fascinated.

Daddy and his 3 princesses:

We were there at the correct time, so we managed to catch the bird show at 11.30 am.

Waiting patiently for the show to start - this is Heidi's signature smile nowadays :)

When the show was over, we could take photos with the birds (for free) using our own cameras. Hannah wanted to do it, but Heidi wasn't so sure.

It turned out to be quite a productive day after all, the last day of the school holidays. Now to plan for the next holiday!

Saanen Dairy Goat Farm

We had heard a lot about this goat farm at Balik Pulau, so last Saturday we decided to take a drive there to check it out. No, we did not go for durian as unfortunately for my hubby, all 3 of our girls take after me and don't eat durian! Even little Helene shook her head when it was offered to her lol.

So anyway we drove up to Balik Pulau and my parents came along too. It was quite easy to find with Waze. The road leading up to the farm is quite narrow, however our SUV managed to drive in without any problem.

We took a family picture but the girls were too distracted with the surroundings so they weren't looking at the camera haha. We dressed them in cool clothes and hats to protect from the sum as it was quite a hot day.

Entrance to the goat farm is free, and they also offer free grass which you can take to feed the goats. The girls did enjoy that very much.

Just Baby, me and Billy :)

The goats were very clean and well-kept.

This was the milking apparatus and we could see the goats being milked. No pictures of that as we were not standing near enough to the milking process.

They had some goat's milk items for sale, such as pudding, bread, and ice-cream. Hubby tried the pudding but he said the smell was way too strong. The kids enjoyed the ice-cream though (no surprises!) but it tasted just like normal ice-cream to me.

Besides the goats, there was also a lot of vegetation at the farm. We took some pictures of the winter melon plant and there was even a grape vine.

The crowds were starting to come in, so we didn't stay for much longer after that. All in all, it was a good educational experience for the kids!

Kidland Penang

It's the 2nd week of the school holidays, and since my parents are around, they are spending some time with the girls during the school break.

Kidland has been around in Penang for some time but we have never been there. There was a day last week where Heidi was at my MIL's place so my parents decided to take Hannah there since Heidi may be still too young to participate in most of the activities.

First stop - Masterchef!

The outfits which they had to wear were pretty cute!

The recipe of the day was chocolate chip cookies and here is my little masterchef hard at work.

All done and waiting to be baked! She brought some of the cookies home for us to taste, and they were quite yummy :)

Next stop - science lab.

I wonder what she was looking at through the microscope.

The scientist and the dentist :)

Then it was time for lunch at Sushi King!

After lunch, Hannah did one of her favourite activities, art and craft.

She had a lot of fun, and I can forsee that she will be asking us to take her there again :)
