Hannah's First Birthday

Our little princess turned one year old on Wednesday. How fast the time has flown. Exactly one year ago she was a tiny little baby and now she is a cheeky, active little girl.

Look at her face when she woke up on her birthday morning, big smiles all around. She seemed to know that it was a special day!

We paid a visit to Ah Gong for lunch and Hannah had fun playing water with Ah Gong.

She seemed to know that something was coming up in the evening so she absolutely refused to nap the entire day. She had a nap for about half an hour and that was it! We were quite worried that she may not last until the party but she was her usual active self. We dressed her up in her pretty dress and tried to get a nice photo but she was wriggling, hence the blur photo :p

She also wore new shoes for the ocassion, nice or not? :)

We were initially scouting around for a few venues to hold the birthday party and we finally decided on this place:

We had our wedding reception at Tanjung Bungah Beach Hotel and we were quite satisfied overall with the event so we decided to come back here for Hannah's birthday. However, since this was a more casual function, we used the outdoor "Pantai Terrace" as the venue. They set it up quite nicely, even though it was only for 32 people.

The backdrop we paid extra for because they only had black lettering. Black lettering on a white background is not really suitable for a birthday (not really pantang-lah) but just not nice. So we asked them to do this and paid RM2.50 extra per letter. However, the result was nice so we did not complain. Also, we got to take back the letters (since we paid for them!) and we plan to re-use them at home this weekend when we have another small party for my father's side of the family.

This was the cake we ordered from Jenni cake house. Hubby initially really really liked Ida's jungle theme birthday cake and cupcakes but since she lives in Melbourne, we got this instead. It did not disappoint and the chocolate cake inside was yummy too! Jenni made all of Hannah's favourite animals, cow, ducks and tortoise.

This was the clown that I bargained with the hotel people for free. He came out for about half an hour and gave out balloons to the kids and made funny faces. He was quite a hit. We were worried that Hannah may be frightened but she loved it! Even while taking photos she kept looking at the clown and wanting to grab his colourful hat!

Soon it was cake cutting time and everyone was singing "Happy Birthday" to Hannah. She even clapped along at times ;)

And then she blew out her number one candle, with Daddy's help of course. Her little puffs were not strong enough to put out the candle.

And all three of us cut the cake together:

We took quite a lot of photos (can be viewed on my Facebook) but this one was a photo taken with both sides of grandparents.

Amazingly enough, as soon as the cake-cutting and photo session was over, Hannah immediately went to sleep on her Ah Mah's lap. She seemed to know that the important part was over and she can now have her nap! Poor baby must be really tired after not having slept the whole day.

But she woke up about an hour later, so we decided to open her presents! There were not that many, since she also got a lot of ang pows. But she had fun opening those that she had. The first one she chose was the present from Uncle Szu-Fu and Aunty Hooi Lee.

It was an animal book with all her favourite animals! Good choice :)

There was also another book about a little duckling and the book could go "quack quack". She didn't want to stop pressing the little button.

Besides that, she also got a tortoise from Aunty Ai Nee and Uncle Kee Siak! Look at her face when she saw the colorful tortoise! The book I am holding behind her is also one of her presents - from Aunty Han Nii.

All in all, it was a fun day and she fell asleep in the car again on the way home.

Happy birthday little princess from your Mummy and Daddy and we love you very much!

Gong Gong's belated birthday

Nanna and Gong Gong have come back from Australia to celebrate my first birthday with me, so yesterday Mummy and Daddy went to fetch them from the airport. Before going to the airport, we had lunch and did some shopping at Tesco Xtra.

I have a new hobby: chewing on straws:

When I was not busy eating, I spent my time looking out the window and making funny faces:

And more funny faces:

I also prefer to feed myself nowadays rather than let Mummy or Daddy feed me. I want to be independent, although it creates a bigger job for Mummy and Daddy to clean up afterwards!

This is me and Gong Gong back at home after we came back from the airport. By the way, I can say "Gong Gong" so Gong Gong is very happy :)

At night, we went out for dinner to celebrate Gong Gong's belated birthday (his birthday was the day before, on 22nd May). Nanna says I share my birthday month with both my grandfathers. Ah Gong's birthday is on 1st of May.

Before we left the house, I played a birthday song for Gong Gong:

We went to Krystal Point for Thai food at Maa Roy Thai Restaurant. The food is really good and not expensive too. We were quite late because I woke up late from my nap. However, Mummy says that being late is a good thing considering the mess and noise I made in the restaurant. At least we did not disturb the other customers, otherwise there will be no more next time for us at this restaurant.

This is me and Nanna:

And the birthday "boy" :p

This is a picture of the yummy cake. Sorry, no pictures of the food because everyone was too hungry and forgot to take pictures.

As you can see, I was not interested in taking pictures and only wanted to reach out for the cake:

This is me doing my "innocent" face when in fact I did not behave quite so innocently.

The candle is lit, time to sing happy birthday and blow the candle! There is only one candle because Gong Gong doesn't want to reveal his age (just joking!) No-lah, there is only one candle because I am one year old! Hmm..is this supposed to be Gong Gong's birthday or mine?

Looks like it's my birthday too since I am helping Gong Gong to blow out the candles. Nanna says we can celebrate together since our birthdays are only 4 days apart. Mummy says that I am giving "showers of blessing" on the cake rather than blowing out the candle.

I also helped Gong Gong to cut the cake. Good practice for me before it's my turn! :)

My early birthday present

Daddy and Mummy got me a car for my first birthday! :) Heheh..it's just a toy one..maybe I can get a real one when I am 16? (wishful thinking) :)

So anyway, I have wanted one of these for a long time now, so Daddy and Mummy took me to Tesco to choose one that I liked. The first one which I took for a "test-drive" was this one:

I tried the steering wheel:

I tested the horn: honk honk!

What do you think, Daddy?

I then tried another one. Hmm..not so impressive..

I then sat on this one:

I liked the little propellor in the front very much!

So, decision made! We went home with it :) I was disturbing Mummy all the way home in the car to play with it it so as soon as we got home, I couldn't wait to get on it. As you can see I didn't even take off my shoes yet.

Thank you Mummy and Daddy for my new car! :)

Cheeky Hannah

Look what I did the other day and everybody thought I was so funny:

This is how I did it:

And again:

This is my cheeky face:

I love to stand up and everybody says I am so clever. Mummy says I am an attention seeker. I still don't dare to walk yet though, I take two steps and fall into Mummy or Daddy's arms. Coming soon, Mummy and Daddy! :)

Fun at Queensbay Mall and Daddy's little helper

The weekend before last, we took Hannah to Queensbay Mall to "kai-kai". She absolutely loves going to the Kiddy Land and playing with the toys there. Needless to say, Daddy had to get quite a few tokens to keep her happy with all the toys! Look at her excited face:

She just loves anything and everything which has a steering wheel. Notice Daddy's hand putting in another token!

She even made a little friend there who kept asking her to look at the camera when she was too engrossed in playing. They were a pretty cute pair.

The good mood continued until the next morning, as you can see...

The night before at Queesnbay, we bought her a beach toy set (bucket, spade, etc.) and it was only RM10.00. Included in the set was a toy watering can. Every morning, she likes to help Daddy water the plants, so now she has her very own watering can to do it.

Good way to teach her to do chores at home..haha..

But it's always more fun to put it in her mouth, as usual!

Oh yes, this is also another of her chores: helping to feed the fish every morning and evening. We wanted to have an aquarium at home for some time now, so we finally got this from Chew Thean Yeang. Hannah got very excited when we were buying it so now she knows how to give the fish "mum-mum" whenever she sees them. The only problem is, she always wants to give them "mum-mum" so we have to explain to her that the fish are full and cannot always "mum-mum"!

Hannah and her pink chair

We had this chair at home even before Hannah was born. I'm not sure where it came from, but it was probably given by one of her cousins.

At first when she "discovered" the chair, it was quite a novelty for her to sit on it. She got to sit in a "big girl" chair like other people. However, after she learnt to climb, she decided that climbing on the chair was more fun than sitting on it.

From facing the front, her body is now turned sideways on the chair.

She's preparing to climb up...

And now the whole body is turned 180 degrees. I took these photos about a month ago so Hannah was not yet that steady when climbing.

She soon discovered that she couldn't get down from the chair and this is calling Mummy for help:

After I came to her "rescue", she then turned the chair upside down and pretended to "drive" it. I agree that this is more fun! :)
